The project

"Kymi's Stories" is an educational program of diadrasis for the "Folklore Museum of Kymi". Discovering through interactive learning the rich collection of the  Folklore Museum of Kymi, young people are invited to connect the museum's exhibits with the living traditions and memories of Kymi by collecting oral histories.

Contents

The project aims to record, preserve, highlight, and promote the intangible cultural heritage of Kymi and the surrounding areas through the active participation of children. For this purpose, the project unfolds in three complementary development stages. It begins with educational activities at the museum, moves on to creative applications in the field, and concludes with communicating and disseminating the produced material to a wider audience. 

1. Educational activities - at the Museum
Discovering through play and interactive learning the rich collection of the  Folklore Museum of Kymi, young people are invited to connect the museum's exhibits with the living traditions and "memories" of Kymi.

  • Educational games for elementary school children
  • Educational workshops for middle school and high school children

2. Collection of oral histories
Inspired by their visit to the museum, they will study, record, and get to know the traditions of their place by collecting oral histories.

3. Creation of a digital repository showing the local tradition (communication)
The best stories will be entered into a digital repository and hosted on the Museum's official website.
